The Task Group on Middle East Collections will provide updates and reports to the Collections Council.

Charge: to develop a high level statement of cooperation for the Middle East like those for the other area studies described on the TRLN web site, and to revise the existing statements for Russia, Eastern Europe, and South Asia as necessary. Review the research and curricular emphases on the four campuses, identify existing collecting strengths and weaknesses, and recommend strategies and guidelines for coordinated collecting in this area by language, country, and format as appropriate.

Timeline

• Convene an initial meeting prior to the Collections Council meeting of May 22, 2009.
• Task Group chair attend Collections Council meeting to clarify charge and scope of task.
• Produce recommendations over the summer of 2009.
