Commons Technologies
Joe Williams (NCSU)
Director of the Learning Commons
NCSU Libraries is using the freeware bulletin board
software, phpbb (http://www.phpbb.com),
as the centerpiece of our Learning Commons homepage. This software allows
patrons to see "who's online" in the library, offer feedback, ask
questions, and converse with library staff and other patrons. In the
future, patrons will also be able to display personalized information
about themselves on an opt-in basis. Williams will give an overview of the
Library Commons and how this technology is being used in it.
