Dress is business casual.
What are
the lodging options during the Academy?
We have
reserved a block of rooms at the Rizzo Conference Center
http://www.rizzoconferencecenter.com/ at the rate of $180 per night plus
applicable taxes. The rate includes breakfast. Please call (919) 913-2098 to
reserve your room. Ask for "Reservations" and mention “TRLN Academy.” We recommend that you make your
hotel reservation as soon as possible.
Which airport will I be flying in to?
Raleigh-Durham International (RDU)
airport.
How do I get from the airport to Chapel Hill?
Several modes of transportation are available at the airport.
How do I get around in Chapel Hill?
The Chapel Hill
buses are free within Chapel Hill. Taxi
service and car rentals are other options. The Rizzo has complimentary local
shuttle service, as well as taxi and car
rental information available.
Where will the Academy sessions be held?
The sessions will be held at the
Rizzo Conference Center, near the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Are there any planned events outside of the
class?
The TRLN Academy Reception on Thursday evening, November 13th, to be held at
the Rizzo Conference
Center.
Where do I eat and shop?
The Rizzo has onsite dining--elegant in the dining room or lighter fare in their
sports bar.
Meadowmont Village is across the street from the Friday Center, and has many
shops and eateries. Chapel Hill offers a wide variety of
restaurants
to suit any craving.
What's going on in Chapel Hill while I'm here?
There are many things to
see and
do while you're here.
Will there be Internet access?
Wireless access is available at no charge.
Is there homework to do prior to the class?
Yes, as follows:
Strategy and Change Management: Both the "Change
Self Assessment" and "Personality Self Assessment" should be completed and
emailed to Ted Baker by
November 1. These documents were emailed to participants via the
listserv.
Harvard Business Review, Datavision A. Read the
case study, and complete the study questions prior to the class. The case study
and study questions were mailed to participants. You will need to
bring both the case study and question set with you;
they'll be discussed in class on November 11th.
Project description assignment. The assignment
was emailed to participants via the listserv. Please email your project
description to Lynda Aiman-Smith lynda@ncsu.edu
by November 1st.
What online courses are available?
The online course associated with the TRLN Management Academy, "Motivation,
Performance and Commitment" will be available soon. The user name and password
will be
emailed to participants. Please contact
patti.pittman@unc.edu if you can't find them.
This course is licensed by TRLN from the
Association of Research Libraries and Southern Illinois University,
Carbondale--the co-creators of the Online Lyceum. This course was licensed for
this program because it does a good job covering foundational motivation theory
and introducing some ideas for creating an environment n which your employees
can do their best work.
You do not need to submit the activities in this
course. But please take time, before we meet in person, to go through the
content. Our hope is that it will stimulate you to think about some of the
challenges and opportunities you have as managers, and that you will be more
ready to contribute to the group's discussions.
