"OCLC's Environmental
Scan"
Cathy De Rosa, Vice President of Marketing
The 2003 OCLC Environmental Scan: Pattern Recognition report was produced
for OCLC’s worldwide membership to examine the significant issues and
trends impacting OCLC, libraries, museums, archives and other allied
organizations, both now and in the future. The scan provides a high-level
view of the information landscape, intended both to inform and stimulate
discussion about future strategic directions. |

Open Access Overview and Issues
Kristin Antelman and Peggy Hoon, NCSU Libraries
This program will review the landscape of open access, including
initiatives that both complement and challenge the current scholarly
communication model, and discuss ways in which libraries can become
involved. Recent conversations on TRLN campuses have created a special
opportunity for librarians to engage faculty on scholarly communication
and related intellectual property issues. There are many strategies we can
take, both inside and outside the library, to make meaningful
contributions to the momentum of these fast-moving and diverse open access
initiatives. |
