| The consortium known today as the Triangle Research Libraries Network started
with the collaborative efforts of Duke University and the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill, on the development of their research level collections
in the 1930s. North Carolina State University began participating in these
cooperative collection development programs in the 1950s, and North Carolina
Central University became a member of the consortium in 1995.
The materials by and about TRLN cited below reflect the history of the
consortium and the nature of its collaborative efforts. Many people have
contributed to this bibliography:
Patricia Dominguez and Luke Swindler researched the history of cooperative
collection development in TRLN libraries, and have contributed photocopies of
archival materials listed at:
http://www.trln.org/history/trln_colldev.htm.
Joe A. Hewitt, who served as Associate Provost for University Libraries and
Director of the Academic Affairs Library from 1993-2005, wrote several articles
on the history of TRLN, and has also made some of his unpublished papers
available at: http://www.trln.org/history/hewitt.htm.
Patti Pittman reorganized years of TRLN materials and put together a paper
archive of some of these articles, unpublished reports, position papers,
presentations and publicity items about TRLN; unpublished items are marked as
[TRLN Files] below.
Librarians who have contributed to the page are credited next to the citation
below. This bibliography is a work in progress, please send important items to:
