The libraries of Duke University, North Carolina Central University, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill participate in a cooperative library lending agreement.
Faculty members, currently enrolled students, administration officials, and members of the university staffs may obtain borrowing privileges from the participating libraries.
How do I borrow from the libraries not at my
university?
The first time a user visits another TRLN library, s/he must complete a
registration process at that library. Your valid university ID will then serve
as your library borrowers card.
What can I borrow from
these participating libraries and for how long?
Most libraries do not place a limit on the number of items that can be borrowed
at one time. However, each library does designate some material as
non-circulating or in-building use only. The length of the loan period depends
on the borrower's user status and the type of material. Check under the
individual library links to the left for more information.
Where do I return the material?
Borrowers are encouraged to return materials directly to the lending library,
but they may be returned at the borrower's home library for delivery to the
owning library. The day the lending library receives the book will be considered
the date of return.
Why did I receive a notice
or bill from a library not at my home institution?
The loan policies and charges for overdue materials and lost or damaged
books are set by the lending libraries. Visiting TRLN borrowers are subject to
these policies and are responsible for any charges incurred.
What if I don't want to
travel to another campus to borrow from their libraries?
Your home library has an interlibrary loan department that will obtain
the materials from other libraries for you, often within 48 hours. Refer to your
library website for more information.
