Loan Period: Faculty have annual loans, graduate students have semester loans, and in general, other patrons have a four week loan. Loans are only guaranteed for two weeks if someone else requests the same book. There is no two week guaranteed loan period for books recalled for use by Reserves. Books may be renewed if they have not been recalled or have other outstanding requests for another patron.
Non-circulating materials: Reference material, reserve material, bound and unbound journals, laptops, and Special Collections and building use items.
Overdue fines:
Overdue policy: Two overdue notices are sent once the due date for an item has passed. A bill for replacement charges is issued for any item 30 days overdue. A non-refundable charge of $25 is added per item billed.
Renewal policy: Loans from all Duke libraries can now be renewed online through the My Library Card link available at https://catalog.library.duke.edu. Enter the Duke barcode number in both fields to log in. Books may also be renewed by telephone at 660-5870.
In general, any book may be renewed if it has not been recalled or does not have an outstanding request by another patron. Books from the Lilly Current Literature and the Perkins New & Noteworthy collections are not renewable.
