TRLN has four programmatic councils that develop and implement consortial programs, either independently or in conjunction with another programmatic council. Councils may have established committees and also may recommend formation of task or project groups as needed. Each programmatic council has a four-person steering committee, with one member from each institution. One of the four steering committee members serves as chair of the council in two-year terms. Each council is supported by a TRLN staff member who serves as council liaison.
The Collections Council coordinates activities related to cooperative collection development and to creating innovative digital collections; provides opportunities for discussion of issues relating to collections and scholarly communication activities; and oversees the licensing activities of the Electronic Resources Committee.
The Human Resources council coordinates activities related to human resources, including staff development, training, and other personnel issues; provides opportunities for discussion of issues relating to personnel, staff development and training; and oversees the Staff Enrichment Series Committee.
The Services Council coordinates activities related to the development, communication, provision and measurement of library public services and issues relating to reciprocal service arrangements among member libraries; and provides opportunities for discussion and exploration of issues relating to document delivery, reciprocal services, library instruction, automated services and other public service interests.
The Technology Council coordinates activities and provides opportunities for discussion and exploration of issues relating to digital library initiatives, shared discovery service, library systems, technical infrastructure, digital content management, e-resources metadata, cataloging practices, and other information technology issues; oversees the maintenance and development of a shared discovery serviceSearch TRLN and the work of the Endeca Operations Committee, and evaluates new projects. Forms task or project groups as needed. The Technology Council will facilitate information sharing and involvement of other library and IT staff, virtually and in small and large group meetings.
