RENCI/TUCASI/TRLN Discussion Series

The Renaissance Computing Institute (www.renci.org) is collaborating with the Triangle Research Libraries Network and three Triangle Universities to research how to best meet the evolving data storage and processing needs of faculty at Duke, NCSU and UNC-CH. We are currently in the planning process to establish and deploy a nationally significant, large-scale, high performance data storage system to meet the needs of researchers at the Triangle campuses and address economic development opportunities. The effort will address a range of research issues from the management and transfer of large-scale datasets to enable researchers to explore and pursue new ways to do research, to managing diverse data collections and data bases including issues associated with long-term preservation and support.

To help the North Carolina Triangle research community prepare for this large-scale data resource and inform its design, RENCI organized a bi-weekly series of presentations and discussions in 2006.
